For all interested in teacher training

Thank you for your interest in Vajrasati yoga teacher training. We are a small but growing community of teachers with a focus on focused exploration into yoga based on fresh understanding of traditional yogic values, the astanga path, traditional hatha yoga, as well as a finger in the Buddhist tradition.

The training is comprehensive, supportive with a firm grounding in yoga practice, as the means to explore yoga philosophy. We have been going since 2000 and there are currently ten Vajrasati teachers actively teaching in the Sussex area with three more due to graduate in the spring of 2007 and four more in training. We plan to be accredited with the yoga alliance by the end of this year (2006) and are well on the way to completing that process.

The training is focused within a small group of no more than ten trainees at a time, and the two year course is run as a roll on roll of, so that there will be first year and second year students training together at any one time.

Assessment
There are eight ten week blocks with assessments at the end of each. The last term of the training (term eight) will include two individual assessments and one group one, as well as a written test. There are homework’s set each term that will take a couple of hours each week on average.

Practical requirements
As well as the training sessions, trainees will be expected to come to at least one taught class a week taught by the trainer (currently this is Jim Tarran - the founder) and as many workshops and events as possible, (extra help can be offered where finances restrict attending many such events, as the preferred wish of the Vajrasati teacher training program is that students come out the other end of the training with the maximum experience and education possible).

Costs
The course can be paid for all up front by term or even weekly and the current fee is £170 per term, once trainees start at a certain fee, they will continue at that rate for the whole of their training period. There is a small extra fee at the end of the course to pay for the extra final assessments, certificate and admin.

After training has been successfully completed trainees will be asked to pay a small annual subscription to cover the costs of running the web site and newsletter as well as other admin costs, this currently does not include the annual two exchange of learning and training sessions that Vajrasati teachers are asked to attend annually after they have graduated. All costs are kept to a workable minimum but it is not Vajrasati’s wish to be a stone around anyone’s neck and so any financial difficulty can be discussed and worked out to be comfortable for all parties, if need be.

Vajrasati yoga is committed to creating a respected school of dedicated practitioners and an on going supportive community for all graduates from the school. Because there are only a few places in each intake and there is only one intake each year it is hoped that any failed applications on a particular intake will demonstrate their commitment by applying for the next, and this stands them in very good sted for acceptance on the next available intake.

Good luck and warm wishes

Jim Tarran (founder)
