New classes & retreats for 2007

December 17th, 2006

handsNew classes, class time changes and retreats from Vajrasati teachers for 2007…

Anita Hall will be starting a new class for the over 60s in Lewes
Anita’s caring sensitive style will make these classes both warm and relaxing, as well as providing all the support and guidance for all students to develop and deepen a regular yoga practice.
The classes will be held in the Lewes Leisure Centre from Friday 12th January from 9.30am to 10.30am and costs £4.30. For more info, contact Anita on (01273) 478247.

Karunajala’s class time changes
Karunajala will be replacing his Tuesday ‘early bird’ slot with a later, 10am-11.30am yoga and meditation session. His Friday slot will also be moved to a 10am start. Karunajala, whose name can be translated as ‘water of compassion’, has been a practising Buddhist for over 15 years and these classes are a perfect combination of these complementary practices.
The Vajrasati style of teaching yoga is strongly influenced by Buddhist practice and so the flavour of the posture practice will lead smoothly into the meditation. This method of preparing the energy system for meditation through asana continues the lineage of yoga practice that has been practiced for millennia. The sessions will consist of one hour’s yoga followed by half an hour of meditation.
Contact Karunajala on 01273 600170 or phone the Brighton Buddhist Centre on 01273 772090.

Tabitha Tarran’s Early Bird session
Monday’s ‘early bird’ sessions at the Brighton Buddhist Centre are a must to start the week. These invigorating and centering sessions will align and focus your energies so that you start moving in the right direction right from the first. A great way to start your 2007 and put those new year’s resolutions into action. 7.30-8.30am, Mondays

Egyptian retreat with Jim Tarran
This exotic location means that yoga sessions take place within sight and sound of the Red Sea, with the ethereal cries from mosques and sunrise over the ocean in front and sunset beyond the mountains behind. This is Jim’s fourth trip back to this stunning location, where practice and relaxation join symbiotically together.
Air flight tickets are still cheap at the beginning of Dec (they where £159 return and now £185 so book early), the flight prices get more expensive the longer you leave it. You only need to book with Free Spirit and pay later if you can’t afford to pay both flight and holiday cost this side of Christmas, and you could make the holiday more than a hundred pounds cheaper by booking soon.

Turkish retreat with Jim Tarran
One week in Yuva, an eco-holiday retreat secluded deep in natural surroundings. From June 18th, 2007

Rivendell retreat with Jim Tarran
For those that don’t want to fly, Jim is teaching a week at the beautiful retreat centre in Sussex. Jim has taught two long weekends at Rivendell and this summer break will be the extension that everyone felt they wanted on these. Rivendell is a Buddhist Retreat Centre and the week with Jim will explore traditional yoga and Buddhist themes, lighting each other up in new and deeper ways. August 17th 2007.

Note: 2008 will see a new program of yoga breaks that can all be reached by sea, road and rail.
