KISSAMOS, CRETE
Yoga Retreat with wildlife walks, ancient culture, mountains and unspoilt beaches
Whether you need a complete wind down and restorative yoga break with time to simply relax by the ocean and enjoy unspoilt beaches, or you’re looking for picturesque mountain walks, stunning wildlife, Cretan culture and cuisine, and ancient Venetian archeological ruins, this yoga holiday has what you need.
Kissamos (also knowns as Kastelli), is in the north west of the island. A hospitable, well-equipped town, with a charming taverna and cafe-lined promenade. Famed for its wine and olive oil, Kissamos has true Cretan character, set against a stunning mountainous backdrop, wonderful to explore for accessible walks where you might see birds of prey and wild flowers.
The yoga venue is on outskirts of the town, where the sea is clean, warm and shallow making for easy swimming with a long quiet strand of golden sandy beach with occasional shingle. The yoga space is above the beach looking out to sea, which offers the ideal space for quiet contemplation, meditative movement and a real undoing of stressful patterns in body and mind.
There will be morning yoga sessions to wake up the senses, explore fluid movement and breath to undo excess held tension, and later afternoon sessions which will be more restorative, including meditation and yoga nidra to really deepen your experience and invite next-level relaxation.
Our hosts Mike and Maria will feed us after the morning yoga class and on selected evenings during the week – some evenings are free so that you can visit the renowned local restaurants.
There will also be an optional excursion to the world-famous organic olive oil mill at Astrikas.

The beautiful yoga space
“Landa's yoga practice combines meditative reflection with carefully choreographed stretches and yoga poses. The experience leaves you feeling uplifted, nurtured, relaxed in mind and body, and at peace with the world. Calm, concise, well-paced instruction ensures the practice is kind, restorative and body aware. A real privilege however old or young you are!” David
A firm believer in the transformative power of retreats, I’m committed to creating safe, nurturing spaces where guests can truly come home to themselves.
Core to my teaching is guiding others to access the body, brain, heart and breath connection through the experience of ‘yoga’, union in Sanskrit. I have been practising yoga for over twenty years and teaching since 2021 when I graduated from the Vajrasati School of Yoga (Yoga Alliance 500+ hours).
Vajrasati yoga is a heart-centered, restorative practice which blends movement, breathwork and meditation to immerse us in the richness of the now. It involves a natural process of listening and responding to what our body needs in each posture, allowing time and space for magical physical and mental releases to take place with the aid of our all-important breath.
Classes are inclusive and tailored to all levels, integrating new students while offering fresh perspectives to experienced practitioners. My teaching style is calming with instructions guided towards an experience rather than a goal. We use props (blocks, blankets, belts) to adapt postures, making them safe and accessible while aiding release. During the retreat you will enjoy four yoga classes and three meditation sessions, including a yoga nidra practice. More about the benefits of Vajrasati yoga here.
“Landa's retreat is one of the best I've experienced for making you slow down, reflect and recharge. Heartily recommend and I wouldn't hesitate to go on another. The hospitality and attention to detail made the experience even more enjoyable. The incredible food was an added bonus.” Max
The talented Emma Gilchrist will be providing the food for our retreat again this year. Her love of food started as a young girl when she would help her granny cook lunch for 15 people every Sunday. Her supper clubs, hosted in Hambledon village, are very popular and she enjoys cooking cuisines from all over the world.
The food this year will feature a mixture of family-style sharing dishes and some elegant fine dining elements. Expect a varied, hearty, well-balanced menu including homemade granola, beautiful salads, non-alcoholic cocktails and juices, healthy snacks and delicious desserts with influences from different corners of the world.
“The object isn’t to make art, it’s to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable.” Robert Henri 2025
Rooted in the belief that we are all creative beings, and that creativity is not a rare ability, my collage workshops are designed to awaken the artist within, taking guests on a journey of self-expression, spontaneity and play. No previous experience is required. We will experiment with different techniques and materials, bringing elements of mindfulness and healing to our practice. Everything you need will be supplied during the workshop which will take place in the woods. A totally immersive experience.
If you are driving from London, the journey usually takes 1 hour and 20 mins depending on time of travel. Car shares are always a good option. If you choose to take the train, the nearest station is Petersfield and there are regular trains leaving from Waterloo on a daily basis. Journey time is usually just over one hour. A taxi ride from Petersfield to Hambledon takes about 15 mins and will cost around £25.If you are travelling from abroad, the nearest airport is Southhampton Airport. .
To register interest or to book please email landa@landaacevedoscott.com A deposit of £200 will need to be paid to secure your place. More information and footage from last year’s retreat can be found on my website www.landaacevedoscott.com and Instagram feed @landa_acevedo_scott . 15% off with code Vajrasati (for any trainees or graduates of the Vajrasati Yoga Teacher Training Program).
The Venue
On the brow of Seaford Head, East Sussex, sits Florence House, rock solid in the sea air and surrounding wild landscape. In many ways its situation is a metaphor for its life’s purpose – a haven for the spirit however the wind blows. It’s a much loved venue for life enhancing workshops and retreats. In essence, it lovingly embraces divine inspiration, the sacredness and potential of each individual and the healing power of the landscape in which it sits.
There are beautiful places within the gardens and we encourage guests to take advantage of these areas. Our aim is to create a unique, nurturing environment where you can rest, restore and relax.
This week will be dedicated to guiding you to feel calm, connected, restored, rejuvenated and content.Mixing mindfulness within yoga practice and through meditation space and personal exploration is a profound and enjoyable way to let go off the stresses of day-to-day life.
This yoga hotel is really lovely, with great service and truly lovely staff. The swimming pool is big enough to properly swim with a small bar beside the pool, which also serves snacks and amazing fresh pomegranate frozen juice ‘slushies’. It also has two yoga shalas which overlook a pomegranate field, which is where the yoga sessions will take place and a Turkish tree house where students can relax.
Dalyan village is situated on the small river that joins the lake to the sea and the yoga hotel is situated in the conservation area between the village and the beach. There are hotel bikes you can use for a lovely (and flat!) 10-minute cycle into town. This means you can either completely escape or enjoy this lovely town with beautiful river, cafes and great shopping if you want…. The beach is a 15-minute bus ride or you get get there by river taxi from town – there is turtle sanctuary at one end.
There is a mid-week break (with no yoga) which you could use to either relax by the pool, explore the surrounding areas or even go on one of the amazing excursions – a boat trip, waterfall, amber forests, the ancient temple site of Kaunos and many more!
The holiday includes
Two yoga sessions daily with Leo Taylor and Charlotte Watts – opening and energising in the morning and relaxing and restoring before dinner. Suitable for all levels and modifications always available.
Daily breakfast plus 5 evening meals are included in the cost of the holiday – extra evening meals are available on-site if you wish, however local restaurants are also highly recommended, as are the dinners on the various boat excursions available.

Reviews for Leo’s 2024 trip to Dalyan
‘What a treat to have recently attended a retreat in Dalyan Turkey with Leo Taylor (Centred Space) as teacher/guide in the company of other wonderful yogis.
Leos approach was wholesome and nourishing, blending beautiful practice with meditation and mantra.
Leo is highly intuitive and professional with the ability to ’see’ everyone making you feel welcome and safe.
Lovely complex, food and cheery, helpful staff.
I would highly recommend.’
Sue Harding
‘I had such a wonderful time on retreat with Leo. Her natural warmth, generosity and sense of fun shines through into her yoga teaching and she worked hard to make sure we all felt included, loved and relaxed.’

Rosie will be returning for our 12th year, staying at the Peli Hotel within the rural bay of Kissamos on the outskirts of the resorts of Kastelli. It’s so nice we just keep coming back! The sea is clean, calm, and warm and the beach is golden sand. Beyond the coastal plain is a backdrop of mountains, gorges and craggy peaks.
This lovely family run hotel has a beautiful pool area and poolside bar where we have our brunch after morning yoga and is also just 2 minutes’ walk from the quiet sandy beach. There are several very nice tavernas along the beach where we can take our meals, and walks and trips across the island can also be arranged. All rooms have en-suite shower room, balcony, air conditioning, hairdryer, tea & coffee making and fridge.
The morning will begin with a ‘Daybreak Meditation’ as the sun rises, followed by the morning yoga session, fully benefitting from the pure sea air. The evening sessions will be gentler, more meditative, and will include Pranayama (work with the breath) and mantra.

Yoga, African Culture and Bird Watching.
Jim taught this retreat last year and was blown away. Birds - yes so many! African culture - yes - last time we went to a local school, learned Djembe (African drum) and even performed in a local night club ( very spit and sawdust but truly ,magic). We danced (optional but hard to resist) saw crocodiles up-close (from a boat) and made some wonderful friends. Beautiful location, ethical management, super friendly people.
Footsteps isn’t super fancy (it’s an eco resort) but it wouldn’t seem right to go all swishy considering the simple way that most people live in this beautiful part of Africa but it is exactly what you would want - its such a lovely place to stay and super relaxed. Footsteps is : very clean; serves yummy food; in the middle of beautiful scenery, staffed by hard working and super, super friendly people from the local community and the beds are really comfortable (“I slept so well in the quiet and dark, feeling super safe and really nourished with wonderful wholesome days” Jim. Footsteps is Its exactly right and provides a really deep dive holiday that you will never forget. “It felt like so much longer than a week” its all emeshed into local life and wildlife - wonderful!
The yoga practice space is in beautiful cared for tropical gardens (you could be anywhere India, Costa Rica, Indonesia) and the grounds that Footsteps sits in grow wonderful organic fruits and vegetables.
On site local craftsmen work hand carving eautiful wooden African style statuary, making amazing woven clothes, making jewely and there is a very talented tailor who can reproduce anything you ask him too (with local fabrics and patterns).
Beautiful Beaches nearby - bird watching trips - river trips (birds galore and maybe a croc or two - the picture above was taken by Jim on the last trip!) - cultural connections - same time zone - winter sun 24-32 degrees in November.
