The Venue
On the brow of Seaford Head, East Sussex, sits Florence House, rock solid in the sea air and surrounding wild landscape. In many ways its situation is a metaphor for its life’s purpose – a haven for the spirit however the wind blows. It’s a much loved venue for life enhancing workshops and retreats. In essence, it lovingly embraces divine inspiration, the sacredness and potential of each individual and the healing power of the landscape in which it sits.
There are beautiful places within the gardens and we encourage guests to take advantage of these areas. Our aim is to create a unique, nurturing environment where you can rest, restore and relax.
(Jim has run dozens of UK residential yoga retreats (and many many more yoga holidays/days/workshops worldwide) over the past 30 PLUS years of teaching, at many locations including Tilton House (Sussex), Little Gayles Retreat (Sussex) , Rivendell Buddhist Retreat (Sussex), Our Retreat (Somerset) and Eco- Yoga (Scotland), Quaives (Kent) but this will be his first at Florence house ! )
The Teacher
Jim has been practicing yoga since 1990 and teaching since 1992. He co-runs the Vajrasati yoga school, training 500-hour teachers which he founded in 2000. His classes are warm and friendly, accessible for all; there’s lots to learn if your a seasoned practitioner but the classes and poses are adapted to suit any range of motion and strength. This retreat will include yoga āsana (posture), prāṇāyāma (breathing practices), meditation, chanting .
Here’s what his students think: “Jim is an excellent teacher in many ways, he is kind and considerate, he listens and responds, he shows the way and is always present, he is deep and thoughtful, he is wise and a master in his field. His classes are a journey which always surprise and delight; I recommend Jim if you like to know what it means to be a yogi in the true sense of the word, and to have a great class at the same time.” - Rupert Fawcett
